Painted Hills Of Oregon
Located in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. As a result of the many volcanic eruptions over time, 30 to 40 million years ago and the evolution from these eruptions as well as those from the Cascades, the variegated Painted Hills were formed. Volcanic ash turned to clay over time creating the colors we see today
