Niagara
White ~ Peacock ~ Close-up
APRIL 2010... MY FIRST GOLD BADGE!!!
I took this photo of Niagara through the chain link fence at Beacon Hill Park on Sunday the 18th of this month. I was so excited to drive up to the petting zoo, which was closed, and to see this beautiful peacock in full display and so close to the fence. My lens didn't fit all the way through the link so I was so pleased to even get the three shots that I did before he moved away. I never knew at the time how important these photos would be to me until I heard on the news Monday that he passed away this past weekend.
He was at least 15 years old and will be greatly missed.
He was quite unique... not considered an albino but just a rarity. Niagara was given his name because his white plumage, draped over a petting zoo fence where he liked to sit, reminded people of Niagara Falls.
