Photography Question

Leonore M. Wigger

Can I check at which time I submitted a picture?

Hello all, I am new here. I started uploading photos and entering them into the contest. I am having some trouble with the uploading and picture managing. Sometimes my clicks don't work quite the way I thought they would. Question: Can I check somewhere at which time point I entered a certain picture into the contest? This morning I submitted one and got a warning message that I had already entered one today. But the last one I entered intentionally was yesterday (and I made my best effort to take time zones into account correctly). I would like to be able to trace what happended there... and which pictures count for which day. Is there any way to do this? I see that below the pictures, the upload time is displayed but that does not necessarily correspond to the time it was entered into the contest.

And what is the right strategy when this happens? Can I delete the picture that apparently cannot be counted for the day, and upload it again on a different day? Thanks in advance for helping me with basic technicalities...

Welcome to BP, and good luck in the contest.

To see what time you uploaded your photo to BP, click "My Member Center" (which is next to the "Sign out" link). On the left hand side, click "My Photos", then towards the bottom left hand side, click "Your Photos." You should see all the photos you uploaded, in descending order for when you uploaded to BP. Click on the image and the bottom, you'll see the date/time you uploaded to BP. And this time is based on United States Pacific Coast Time.

I've been at BP many years, and I don't know how to find out the time you actually entered the photo into the contest. And as you've noted, the upload time is different than the contest time.

As for your "strategy" question. There's no need to delete the photo (although you could do so and upload again). From the same "Your Photos" link I described in my first paragraph, find the photo you want to enter into the contest, and click the "Enter into Contest" button.

And one final tip. If you enter a photo into the contest but then realize you don't like it, or want to make a change, you can delete it from the site, and enter a brand new one into the contest. You don't have to wait until the next "BP Day" to enter again.

My experience has been that the dates change as of midnight west coast time.No matter what time I post a photo for the contest during the day, I cannot post another one until after midnight of that day. So if I post one on 02/08/14 at 11:45 PM or 11:45 Am, I cannot post another one to the contest until 12.01 AM of 02/09/14

Actually it's not possible to upload a new day's photo at 12.01 AM: it's possible at 12.08 or 12.09 AM.

Thanks a lot Jill and Tiia. Actually I now believe my problem wasn't about upload time. I think I did things in the wrong order (clicking "enter contest", checking checkbox "display", clicking "submit") and somehow the same image was entered twice. But, of course, it is very useful to know what you wrote about the approximate time when upload starts to be counted for each day.
