Photography Question

Ellen D. Hall

Need to buy a camera (soon).

Until last week I owned a Sony Cybershot DSC-H2 - it has been lost or stolen and I must have a camera. I loved the image quality of my camera - I want something of equal image quality but faster (I like to shoot pets, butterflies, hummingbirds, etc). I also would like to be able to shoot closer in macro. I have tried looking at online reviews but I don't understand the categories. My Sony had a 12x zoom. It was larger than pocket-sized, which was fine with me. Don't need a smaller camera. Would like to stay in $400-$600 range. Any suggestions?

Look at the Canon point and shoots. They have some nice ones. A friend of mine has a Power Shot SX50HS and he gets marvelous shots with it. It has about a 30-50X zoom, too. It was just on sale for $329. Might be just the thing for you. A tip about shooting closeups with this sort of a camera is DON'T use your zoom, put the camera right up on what you want to shoot. I hope this helps some.
