POTD Has anyone noticed that the last 6 POTD winners are previous 2nd Place GOLD winners from July?? I normally see only EP's associated with POTD.. Now it seems like they are giving out POTD to images from 2 months ago and that have won Gold. If you look at previous POTD winners you will see that images that win are selected from EP's. Now it looks like that has changed as well..

Brian, I have five POTDs, and I don't remember any of them being from the current month's entries. But what seems odd to me is that two of them never even made Finalist! And, since the re-entry rules have changed, they never will. Maybe they've put a new procedure in place to make POTD choices from sure things?

What a skill of observation to notice the shift. Is this temporary or a trend? I suggest there's a trend. It is possible that BP needs to change things. We don't know - this is an internet site with small stakeholder investment (our fees for membership). BP has to manage its revenue. Cutting costs on POTD might be one of these. Sounds like a simple solution to extra work effort. Members of internet sites (the Old Guard) generally consider the sites should be loyal to them. It is possible that a site needs to do what needs to be done to stay in business. Because they are privately owned the members are not aware of any management concerns, decisions and worries. Private companies generally don't make these known and that's part of why they like to be private. Giving a POTD to a past winner would be a quick hit with low work effort for BP. I don't have special insight into BP so this seems like an obvious answer. The change in awarding EPs and POTD are likely examples of BP needing to change its business to stay in business in a profitable way. Members here really like the BP community. It is a special place. So what if the real question might be: What do members need to do to help BP stay in business. So I am interested in what members might want to do to support BP and how that might be made clear to BP. M.

I dunno; my recent POTD last week was a first-time entry into September's contest; the month isn't even done for collecting entries yet. My advice would be simply to stop worrying about patterns at BP ;)

I am not worrying at all, I along with many people are wondering why all of the sudden the last 7 POTD images are taken from Gold winning images from 2 months ago, when it use to be taken from EP's that was from the month previous..
