Digital Lens on Full-Frame Camera

Can I use a Sigma 17-70mm lens (for digital) on my Canon 5D Mk II? I've not tried it yet - it surely won't do any damage to mirrors, etc., will it? Will I get a really nice wide angle?
Tks

Sigma DC series lenses will fit and not damage full-frame EOS cameras, but are likely to vignette badly at the short end of the zoom range.

THanks Jon, I eventually put it on, and popped off a shot.... MAJOR vignetting, as I thought. Sometimes its the only way to learn, try it and see the result.... aaaah now to dream of a really nice wwwwiiiiiiiiiide angle lens for my 5D. The 17-70 works a treat on the 30D, but is equivalent pretty much to the 24-105 on the 5D!

I have a similar situation with my Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 lens when I upgraded from my Nikon D80 to the D700. I haven't gotten too much bad vignetting with it but I get probably half picture, thus don't really have a wide angle. The D700 shows me what I will be getting with a smaller line box in the center of the view finder. I'm hoping for a lottery win to be able to get the Nikon 17-35mm, 2.8.
