It looks like you've figured it out -- I see 4 photos in your message.
All uploading & contest entry steps are done from your Member Center, once you're fully logged in. Images can be uploaded to your library, for display in your gallery (or not on display) - and can be entered into the contest (or not). It is pretty flexible.
Also, be sure and read the straightforward "Help With Updating Gallery" link, right on the main page of your Member Center.

Sylvia, for new members it can be confusing. Same for entering the contest. Once you’ve figured it out (and Chris has given some good advice), it’s pretty easy. BP has said they have a new and improved BP coming soon, and perhaps it will be more intuitive in this area.

For BP staff. If you add the following options to the front page, I think it will benefit new members. (1) Add “Upload Photo” as a menu option for the “Photos” menu. And for the “Contest” menu, add “Enter the Contest.”

Sylvia, you asked this question before and I gave you very clear directions...Maybe you missed my post. Here is a link for it again:

Definitely shouldn't be in the contest entry area, but could it be just a new way of getting ads onto the site?
BP??? What's up?

5/13/2014 3:24:04 AM

Looks as if a few enterprising and devious souls are taking advantage of the opportunity to sign up and enter the contest for free - and their entries are ads. I'll give them points for clever - but now the question is, how does BP keep them out (I'm assuming for now that the BP folks have nothing to do with them).

33 .  Just For Fun, I Would Like To Know
I would like to know what everyone's dream job would be as a photographer. There are so many styles of photography and so many areas that a person could go into. For instance, the photographer who gets paid to just take photo's of the President or maybe a concert photographer or maybe you would like to work for National Geographic, etc. Remember, it's just for fun so there are no wrong answers! lol

5/12/2014 9:49:13 AM

Interesting question, Dayna! If I had my druthers, I'd love to create theme calendars (including the kind that are sold at mall kiosks). Favorite topics might be specific state and national parks, flowers (big surprise there!), boats and even oddball things like rusty metal, abstract shapes and falling-down barns. One thing I NEVER want to photograph professionally, though, is people!

Hmmm... Assuming in the dream that I would also be skilled enough to be excellent at it, then I think I would enjoy studio photography of beautiful objects -- such as photos you'd find of, say, a vintage Bugatti convertible shown in a glossy museum program or booklet published for a rare vintage-car exhibit... Lots of perfect lighting, controlled reflections in the car's glossy paint, a black background, picking out beautiful chrome details or graceful body lines, etc... or say, exquisite wristwatches for magazine ads. Something that combines my interest in macro/detail, with that kind of very polished, stylized end-result image.
Or of course, Ministry of Icelandic Tourism official photographer -- assuming it comes with all gear I'd ever possibly need, plus endless travel budget to explore the country ;) (And, somehow, the willingness to get up at 3am to chase sunrises in the bitter cold... ;)

5/12/2014 11:55:07 AM

I would love to be a people photographer if I could choose my subjects. I would really love to find a family in my area (Southeast KY) and follow their lives for a year or two and just document the daily routine of living in their world. In fact I already have the family picked out. They live about two miles from me and I pass by their house everyday on my way to and from work. Actually they live in an old abandoned church. Are they what society would call upstanding citizens? Heck no. Do any of them have jobs? Maybe one or two out the entire bunch. They are not clean people, they live dirt poor and look like they would kill you if you looked at them wrong. Are they up to illegal activities? I'm guessing they are but here's why they fascinate me. They play music. On a warm evening they are out on the steps of that old run down church and they play music. I used to go walking in the evenings for exercise and I would go past their place. There they would be, playing guitars, mandolins and fiddles. They are extremely talented musicians and I always wanted to stop and listen but their pit bull dogs had different plans for me and I never got the chance to listen for long. How's that for a dream photography job? haha

5/12/2014 12:06:57 PM

I forgot to mention that this family has no idea I have singled them out for my photo documentary. But seeing as how it's never gonna happen they really don't need to know. lol

5/12/2014 12:10:56 PM

Wow! Dayna, I love your idea. Bring a female dog to keep the pit bulls occupied, storm the porch and lay it on them...the idea, I mean. Who knows, they might go for it.
For me, I think I'd be more likely to go the way of Monnie. Since I've never shot in anything resembling a studio, I can't even begin to think about what Chris said, although I do love Bob Garas's old froggie shots.

5/13/2014 3:29:18 AM

I would be happy to lug the luggage of Jim Zuckerman on all his photo expeditions.

5/13/2014 10:49:43 AM

For me I love nature and the outdoors and would love to go chasing that rainbow, the last light of a sunset, first light of day and capture that one landscape that everyone would want hanging in their house. Would like to be able to travel, hike and photograph in the back country where few people see or may not want to go. I just need to figure out to get rid of other responsibilities and become rich before I get to old. National Geographic would work nicely. LOL

I would like to organize photo shoots for groups of 10 or less, and do 7-day trips for landscape photography in locales across the US, mostly western US (Oregon, CA, UT, AZ, UT, CO). And Canadian Rockies. But I know that's a lot of work..the insurance, access to locales, logistics, etc. But it would be fun!

Freelance. I'd want variety. Some editorial, some ads, some stuff where I can hang around and let things happen. Like Marco Grob, Ernst Haas, or Arthur Meyersoon.
And I'd be making enough money so that when I'm not working I'm riding one of my 15 motorcycles. Or more if I can find a big enough garage.

Well, darn. Usman took my job.:) For me, I think a top notch street photographer, really capturing the emotion behind a moment. If that didn't work, then urban decay or possibly a macro photographer of objects (not flowers, probably). I have a studio set up, but portraits terrify me. They aren't as patient as a rusty nail, and are more likely than the nail to not like the results. :)

It would be fun to travel the world shooting for a living but I also love camping & festivals and spend a great deal of time shooting these events with many of my local friends as well. I dont think I could be totally content doing one job as opposed to several different type jobs. I have a degree and enjoy my work (Telecom) and I dont have to sweat over wrangling up photography business to pay the bills. When I started taking classes at Better Photo, my goal was to learn to take the best photos I can and in that, I am still learning, practicing, experimenting and I love it...... Well, maybe I could shoot high fashion models with a Hasselblad 85mm with someone carrying all my camera gear, lights & do the editing for me. That might be fun.   I believe I'm have my dream job in photography! :-)
I've been doing photography professionally for about 25 yrs. First on a part time basis, and beginning in 2000 on a full time basis.
I started out doing portrait and wedding photography for quite a few years, but have gradually transitioned to doing primarily 'corporate event' photography. I love doing this kind of photography.
Wedding photography became more and more stressful to me (no one was on time, except me), although I loved working with the clients -- it also involved a lot of post event production work.
Corporate event shooting includes just about all types of photography - portraits (both individual and group), product shots (trade shows), sports (mainly golf and tennis), architectural shooting, social activities, dancing, stage presentations, scenic, and even animal photography. All done in different locations and lighting conditions that challenge my skills as a photographer.
Clients often pay for me to stay at very nice resorts/hotels, and often my contracts require on-site delivery of high resolution Jpeg files -- so there is often little post production work.
In addition, since I have transitioned to using the Olympus/Panasonic Micro Four Thirds System for all of my shooting, I don't get exhausted from hauling around a bunch of large, heavy DSLR equipment!
I would say that I am blessed to have that dream job.

5/24/2014 6:12:59 AM

My dream photography job would be to travel around the world taking photos of the beauty around me in the landscapes, people, nature, wildlife, sports, events...okay, pretty much everything, so freelance!

If you have either of these cameras, please contact me. I won a contest on ViewBug and they sent me an accessory that you can only use on one of those cameras. It isn't cheap, so I'm sure somebody will be able to use it. It's a pretty cool item.

  37 .  which camera to buy 6d/70d
I have a canon 450d with 18-55efs, tamron 55-200 and sigma 50mm macro.
I want to upgrade to get better quality images.
I am a hobbyist. I take pictures of my family, and other families/babies for pay sometimes. I also like macro/flowers, building etc.
I can afford a NEW 60/70d (with my old lenses) or a USED 6d and I would have to sell my lenses and buy a new one im told the 24-105 is a good match.
is a better model used camera better then a new less quality camera?
im also worried about the extra weight that I am not used to.

A factor in your comparison is that the 6D is a full-frame sensor, while the 60/70 are smaller APS-C "crop-sensors". (The Canon EFS lens have now, thus won't mount to the 6D; I can't tell if your Sigma and Tamron have mounts made only for Canon's crop sensor bodies?)

Additionally, any of those 3 cameras will bring you much larger file sizes to edit & store on your computer -- an important thing to remember, particularly if you shoot in RAW. Also, the 6D will eliminate the on-camera flash, if you needed that. Any of the 3 choices will bring several "upgrades" beyond your 450, that will take some learning/familiarizing.

Typically, larger sensors *generally* can offer better noise handling than smaller sensors -- allowing you to successfully use higher ISO before the image degrades -- useful in low light photography.

I would suggest you start out by comparing specific, important-to-you features of the 3 cameras. (dpreview.com has a slick side-by-side camera feature comparison tool. I'll try and paste the link here that compares the features of your 3 choices, against your existing 450d:

http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=canon_eos6d&products=canon_eos60d&products=canon_eos70d&products=canon_eos450d

There you can gauge any "critical" features and evaluate them accordingly for your needs -- such as for example, if you find you often need a really fast burst-rate (hi-speed shooting, frames per second) the 70D beats the other two.

5/8/2014 10:47:22 AM

thanks, I love the dpreview site, the comparisons are very useful. been staring at them for days :)
my macro/sigma lens will work fine, my 18-55 will not and my tamroon im told would work, but with black halo so not great.
everyone tells me full frame is a different world, which is why the high price.

Aside from the physical gear constraints (no EF-S lenses on a full frame) and some of the sensor's inherent benefits (better noise handling at higher ISO's) -- I don't know that I feel it really was such a pronounced, life-altering transition to move from crop-sensor to full frame. (Coming from 7D to 6D.) In fact, I definitely miss one or two features from my 7D, every time I use the 6D... (Some of which, the pricier 5Diii would have restored.)
And as with all camera body upgrades, it didn't instantly make all my images x% noticeably better than those shot on the prior model ;)

5/12/2014 12:00:09 PM

thanks!! I think I decided on the 70d. mainly due to its price. in a few years I can think about upgrading again, and by then I hope there will be cheaper ff. now to search for deals on 70d and fine someone to bring it :)

I've got 2 for May (8 for April) but... so what? It seems now to be a bit like a lottery, thus getting or not getting them is not necessarily an indicator of quality of photos.

5/14/2014 11:42:20 PM

Thanks, Joannie; but Tiia has a point. There are some really good photos being overlooked and vice versa.

5/15/2014 6:36:47 AM

I'm not sure who is judging this month, but it seems they are only picking a very few EFP's and overlooking many really good photos.

5/15/2014 7:44:28 AM

Leslie, I have always wondered who does the judging. I've never been able to get an answer.

5/15/2014 7:49:47 AM

  You never will Beth!

5/15/2014 10:19:28 AM

I'm bet that the judging rotates to different people each month, which really is a good thing as every judge has their own bias as to what they like and don't like. Who the judges are has never been disclosed by BP and really doesn't matter. I am very active in the Chicago Area Camera Club Association as both a judge and someone who enters photos into the contests. One month the judges will love your images, the next month nothing. Judging is definitely subjective.

5/15/2014 12:29:17 PM

Yes, judging is subjective which is why I don't shoot to please these illusive judges. Although I have to admit, it is extremely frustrating when you think you have a good photo and it gets overlooked. Sometimes I submit images out of curiosity to see if they'll go anywhere, but mostly I submit what I like.

Here's my most recent - entered the 12th. If you can visualize (or do a screen shot and check it out) a horizontal flip (having the door and light on the right), which orientation would you prefer?

13 skips out of 20 entries: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20

I am really looking forward to the second pass through LOL

6/1/2014 10:56:05 AM

Do like I do, Nikki....space the entries 3 or 4 or 5 days apart and then they don't get tired of looking at your stuff.... ;-)

6/1/2014 11:08:06 AM

  LOL Bob
And here all along I thought I was increasing my chances by having more entries :)

6/1/2014 11:14:20 AM

Not much better for me, Nikki..10 of 20.

6/1/2014 12:36:35 PM

May, 14 entries, so far 2 EPs.

6/1/2014 1:43:06 PM

  May 16, 17, 18 skipped
May 19 - So you think you can dance - D&M
May 20 - Gone Fishing - People

That makes it 9 out of 20 for me, we are all together in our boats within this BP EP pond ;)

Congratulations to all the May winners.

I started the June thread. Good luck.

6/2/2014 7:06:01 AM

Well...I only have 4 out of 27, feeling very bummed out even after getting an email from Jim. I know I should not let it bother me, but it is very disappointing, not inspiring...:-(

6/2/2014 7:36:16 AM

I know how you feel, Jill. It is nearly impossible not to let it bother you.

6/2/2014 7:54:34 AM

I agree with you Beth, Joannie, Jill, and other. It is disappointing.
Even more so when you feel you've gotten out of a bit of a personal slump, and still... all the skips. I also hope they go back thru for everyone with skips.

6/2/2014 1:23:30 PM

I only had a couple of staff favorites last month but I was gone most of the month and have not paid much attention to things. I was wondering about the second go around. Did anyone get a finalist out of those skipped during the first go through and EP'd on the second go through? I hope I have been clear enough. Those first overlooked photos may not have a chance or do they? Just wondering.

6/2/2014 2:15:45 PM

Yes, I have had SF's and 1 finalist from overlooked first round stuff.
Don't give up.

6/2/2014 2:59:09 PM

  Thanks, Carolyn.

6/2/2014 4:17:43 PM

17 entries in May and only 1 EP! :-( I think this is some of my best work...oh well!

6/3/2014 8:20:00 AM

I'm done with May....4 EPs out of 4 entries....

Oh, re the overlooked previously stuff...I had an sf/finalist in April that was overlooked several times prior.

6/3/2014 8:27:55 AM

Out of 31 entries, 5 EPs for me. Maybe if they do a third or fourth time around??? ;-D

6/3/2014 10:28:49 AM

Do you think they are through with May? I was doing fine until the 22nd and not another one for the month. It is only the 3rd of June and there is still a lot of time......

6/3/2014 10:35:50 AM

I don't think they are done. My last was for the 22nd, also. I'm almost sure they are not done.

6/3/2014 10:51:59 AM

  And....question answered! Not done!

My last EFP' is for the 26th which just came today.

6/3/2014 3:35:50 PM

Continuing with the skips (last EP on 16th):
21, 22, 23. Got one for the 24th. Nothing new after that (out of town at end of month so entered resubs from 27th on of which two already had EPs)

6/3/2014 3:56:08 PM

If they are done till the 26th, then I have one more to show from 21 onwards, which makes it 10 out of 26 so far. Almost 40% in the first pass. In times like these, I consider this not bad at all.

6/4/2014 4:19:42 PM

You're right, Joannie. I didn't think it was that high. I'll quit crying now. I still think they missed some good ones. Maybe on second run through.

6/4/2014 5:58:54 PM

Sorry, but I have to agree with Joannie, I posted 27 and got only 7 EPs.I just don't feel sad for those folks who get lots of EPs, Staff Favorites and Finalists and have a few skipped......We all are disappointed when one of our images doesn't get any recognition, but to have so many ignored in favor of the same folks who win all the time is very disheartening. Just my 2 cents... Granted those photographers are talented, but I sure see a ton of incredible images that are passed over in favor of some that are not so exciting...

6/4/2014 7:46:46 PM

May 27 got skipped and don't know about May 30 and 31st as both were resubs. Got two new ones though making it 12 out of 30 entries, a whopping 40%, in the first pass!!

6/4/2014 8:52:53 PM

Sorry. I was in your shoes for quite a while, and I know where you are coming from. I'll quit complaining.

6/5/2014 2:34:13 AM

Don't get too discouraged. Last month I had quite a few passed up the first time. The second round I did do much better. But the photo that I got gold on was not given an EP until the second round. So hang in there. This month's entries given EPs have been very slim. But I am not going to lose heart no doubt I will get more in the second round. The power of positive thinking.:-)

Good luck everyone,

Jane

6/5/2014 5:36:17 AM

6/23/2014 6:56:01 AM

6/23/2014 8:11:16 AM

Well, in that case maybe they are done. I got none. That would leave me with 13/31.

6/23/2014 8:24:17 AM

I got that last one this morning and that was for the 19th.

6/23/2014 8:50:53 AM

6/27/2014 1:58:22 PM

Congratulations, Beth. I haven't seen any and others in a group I'm in were asking as they had heard Staff Favorites were out. Are you sure you understood my question - I was asking whether anyone has seen a Staff Favorite on a May entry yet.

6/27/2014 2:08:33 PM

I haven't seen any staff favorites yet, but hopefully this evening. I think they usually send emails. Monday is the end of the month so unless they are going to do it all in one day, they should come tonight or over the week-end. Good luck to everyone.

6/27/2014 3:32:32 PM

Nikki, I understand your question, I was just stuck on the lack of EPs and frustrated.

40 .  Countdown to March Contest Results
Hello Everyone! It's April 15th…Tax Day in the United States. And most importantly, it’s Countdown Day so please share your favorite contest image(s) from February. If it makes Staff Fav/Finalist/Winner, all the better. So give your favorites a showcase here, tell us why you picked them, and join us in the countdown!

In case you missed it, BP now allows for Resubmits so if you have a bunch of favs that only got an EP, now is the time to resubmit them (if you don’t have any new photos to post).

BP has already gone thru the EPs for March but the last two months, they did another pass-thru. If so, good luck in this supplemental EP round.

So, upload your Fav photo(s) then join us as we await the contest results. Good luck everyone!

Some helpful hints for attaching photos into a BP Forum Thread, if you're unfamiliar with the process:

1) Sign into BP. IF YOU HAVEN'T entered the Contest for today, you can use the "Photo ID" method to pull an existing image (from your Member Center) into your Reply here. This avoids a duplicate image upload to your Member Center. Note the Photo ID# of the image you wish to include here (visible in your Member Center) then return to this thread, click Respond, enter the text of your reply, and choose "1" from the images-to-attach drop-down (even though you won't actually be uploading a file.) Click Submit; at the next screen, populate the "Photo ID" field shown over at the right. Skip the other text fields on that screen, check the boxes at the bottom, and Submit.

2) IF YOU HAVE ALREADY entered the Contest for today, you can't use the Photo ID method *today*. Either wait until tomorrow to reply here first, or upload a copy of the image (from your PC) and attach to this thread. This produces a duplicate image in your Member Center; however, you don't have to make that duplicate visible in your Gallery.

If you're uploading a duplicate, I suggest titling it "For Forum" so it stands out in your Member Center, for easier housecleaning later on. This can also help nudge BP viewers to go find the original image in your gallery, if they want to leave a comment. Likewise, if you want to add a comment to a photo seen here, first try to tell if it is a duplicate upload. As a courtesy, try to find the original image in the member's gallery and leave your comment there instead of on the duplicate... which may one day be deleted.

While the equinox was Thursday, the morning was heavily fogged in. I went to Arlington Cemetery Friday morning instead, for sunrise over the Capitol and monuments. (The Capitol, Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial sit in a straight line together, which forms an axis that meets the sunrise on the horizon, on the equinox. However, where you would need to stand in Arlington Cemetery to "stack" all 3 buildings back-to-back (about 50 yards north of my position here) has large old trees blocking that view.)

Neat pic and Pick, Ken. Love those blues and the reflective planes in the crystal cube.
Very, very tough to pick a fav from March, even with only 19 entries---I had some new, beloved favorites arise! Go figure -- 17 of my 19 were cathedral photos; so I sort of feel like I should pick a March Fav from the 2 that *weren't* cathedral imagery... ya know... just to be different? ;) And I'll then just have to break the old rule of a single choice, and pick my 2 non-cathedral images as tied March Favs...!

  Hi Usman, welcome aboard!

Both of your photos are so different...the sweeping scene of the oyster bay with the people, to add perspective. And the Mosque is very eye-catching, even as a thumbnail and hard to imagine it not having an EP. Hopefully BP's 2nd pass thru will spot it (assuming they have a 2nd pass thru). Well, I'm kind of at a loss this month. My favorite didn't get an EP; though I could put it in anyway, I want to resubmit it, so I won't. A few members of the yahoo group I'm in pick our favorites on one another's entries - maybe I'll get an idea there, I thought. But nope. Six members and six different picks so no clear consensus. So I'm left to my own devices and I'll go with this one (I have since decided there's a bit too much ground, so I cropped some off - too late for BP, I'm afraid).
Good luck to everyone - SF's should be coming pretty soon.

4/22/2014 4:32:49 PM

Guesstimating April 25 as SF announcement date, April 27 Finalists and April 29, the Winners are declared. But don't hold me to these dates, lol!

This my favorite of my three EP's for March! I lived not far from here as a child! :-)

Hi Joannie, thanks for joining us! Your photo has a very nostalgic feel to it...could work in this month's "Back to Basics" theme too, I think. I like your effects, and hopefully in a couple of days (or less), we'll see the Staff Fav emblem under it! :-)

4/23/2014 1:20:07 PM

This one is my favorite, both because of the effort to capture it (in addition to the drive and the hike, it was so slippery that I had to crawl into the cave on my hands and knees) and because it came out just like I previsualized it.

4/23/2014 6:46:43 PM

I'm afraid that I have to appologize, as I got my information mixed up, and this was entered into the April contest. Sorry.

4/23/2014 6:54:36 PM

March or April, Paul, this is a wonderful image to share. Kudos to you for making this wonderful image.

Hey Paul, no worries on April versus March. You'll just need to plug a March photo in here. :-)

And it's nice to see other landscape photographers on this forum thread. You certainly went the extra mile to capture the beauty of the ice cave. My kinda scenery. Thanks for sharing...and feel free to share a fav from March!

4/23/2014 7:31:09 PM

Thank you, Usman. Thank you, Ken. I'm afraid that my participation in BP has been sorely lacking the last several months due to situations beyond my control. I'm not sure that I even entered anything in March, and only a couple during the previous months. As my situation improves I will keep this thread in mind.

Paul, hopefully things slow down for you and you can find more time for photography. I try to start this tread monthly on the 15th, for the preceding month.

4/24/2014 3:53:40 AM

Thank you, Ken, and I will keep that in mind. Now that BP has decided to eliminate their clubs, there are fewer opportunities for daily interaction here at BP so I have less reason to be here. This may help fill that void a little. One thing that will help me find time for photography is that the snow is finally going, so I won't be running my sled dogs (I have 18 Siberian Huskies), which will free up some time.

I hadn't heard that BP was eliminating clubs. I thot the clubs kinda ran themselves, unless there is behind-scenes software work to sustain.

You must lead a far different life than most of us. :-). And your huskies will have some time off too.

4/24/2014 8:48:27 AM

I was in several BP clubs, and we were notified that they were going to stop supporting them in the next couple months, and they encouraged the owners to find a different site to host them. Something about BP clubs not being very active and them wanting to focus their resources elsewhere.

I expect that you are right; I live on 40 acres in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and have a half mile of driveway that I have to keep open in the Winter. This year it doesn't want to end; we are supposed to get another 2 to 5 inches of snow by tomorrow.

OK, thanks Paul. I suppose with Facebook and other social media sites, it's pretty easy to set up a "club." It just takes a leader to do it..could be you! :-)

4/24/2014 10:32:36 AM

Very interesting - I host two clubs and am a member of 12 total and I've heard nary a word about dropping them.

4/24/2014 8:06:04 PM

It was pretty clear from the text of the message that the recipients of the email were members and administrators who had been recently active in their clubs. Were your clubs active, Monnie? The one I was in was very active - small but active. And a lot us received emails. But I don't think all members did. However, our club owner regularly purged the membership list of inactive members. As soon as he and we got the email, we started looking for a new home. Lack of interest and activity in clubs as a whole was cited as the reason for the decision and we had plenty of notice. You can still get to and participate in your clubs here at BP now, but once the "new BP" is up and running, they will no longer be supported. As I understand it, the on site links to them will disappear from our member centers, and if you have technical issues within the club, support will not take care of them the way they used to. The fact that you heard nothing from any of the 12 administrators of your clubs tells me a lot about overall interest and participation in clubs in general :) Occasionally, an old member of our club drops in here at BP and sends a message - I still get the email notification of that (which I had always opted to do).

Alright, Usman -- 18 hours left for your prediction to hold true ;) Let's hope so... otherwise it looks like we'll be headed for another "rush job" squeezed into the end of the month.

I'm thinking it will be today, now that I busted my prediction for yesterday :-)

4/25/2014 7:18:39 AM

Three of the 12 clubs I'm in are somewhat active, though probably not in terms of number of different members - it tends to be the same 2 or 3 people. It really doesn't matter much to me whether BP has clubs or not, but especially since I'm a host, I was a little surprised to hear nothing about the change except in the discussion here.

4/25/2014 10:52:38 AM

This is the email that I received from Jim Miotke on March 22, 2014:

BP Clubs Removed from Site Redesign

Hi Paul,

I wanted to let you know that, due to a lack of activity, we have decided to no longer link to the BetterPhoto Clubs.

I will leave the pages up on the server for some time, but you will want to bookmark the main club page in order to access it, if you decide to continue to use it.

We are doing this to focus our developers on more popular features BetterPhoto site.

Because you appear to have recently used the clubs area, we will keep those pages on the server for at least a few months, maybe more. But our developers will be focusing on other areas, and no longer updating the clubs or linking to them from the main BetterPhoto member center.

I recommend copying this link in order to have continued access to the clubs area:
http://www.betterphoto.com/mgAdmin/a_ClubsList.asp

You will want to sign in first, then copy and paste the above link. Save this link for future reference.

Since we need to focus on more popular features of the site, I also recommend looking for another solution for your photography club.

I wish you and your friends all the best with photography.

Thanks,

Jim Miotke

P.S. I greatly appreciate your loyal support as an awesome customer and wish we did not have to make this change. However, I am confident that, when you see the new and improved BetterPhoto that is in development, you'll understand why I had to make this decision.

April 25 has come and gone and its evening of April 16 on my side of the world!!!

The good thing is, it won't be toooo long anymore, as only a few days left to announce all medals.

While we wait for Staff Faves, does anyone else wish to participate in the Contest Countdown? We only have 10 people who've shared their Fav photo(s) far.

It's not too late!

4/26/2014 5:46:59 PM

At last, the wait is over..... Staff Faves are in, I am happy with my 5 and good luck to all in the next rounds.

Congrats, everyone on your SFs. They had a 12% selection rate.

The Feb finalist rate was 9%, and Jan was 6%. I'm thinking BP will select ~ 480 for finalists, or 8%. Time will tell.

Good luck in the finalist round!

4/27/2014 6:22:39 AM

  The Finalist Round is in…

Woohoo! A double-whammy for me, as both of my favorite picks for this thread went on to Finalist! Certainly a first for me, in the Countdown ;) And icing on the cake, one more SF went on as well.
Best of luck to everyone in the winner's round!

Congrats, everyone. They sure went quick between SFs and Finalists. Good luck in the gold medal round.

4/27/2014 5:16:22 PM

Its great that there is a couple days gap between the Finalists and Winners announcement as it gave me some time to go over many stunning and inspiring Finalist images.

Geez, the judges have a tough job on their hand, good to know that I am not a Judge, lol!!!

Anyone sweating......the Winners should be coming anytime now!!!

Hello everyone...it shouldn't be too much longer, being that today is the last day of the month. :-)

Don't forget to copy your contest entries for April, if you're in the habit of doing that.

Next Month's BP theme is water droplets. Do a Google search on "Photographing Water Drops", and you'll see creative ideas.
