Thanks, Mary Beth. Traditionally, these drinks were/are served very cold in silver cups---tall ones, and some do contain Bourbon or other alcohol...not sure what other types. Lotsa sugar in this though. Cheers, too!

I love this!!! Such a unique and captivating image--a definite winner in my book. Fantastic capture and b&w conversion, KK! By the way, I went to college in New Orleans and in that whole time, I don't think I ever had a mint julep! I did have a few Pimm's cups at the Napoleon House, though. :)

I am on my way in a day out of New Orleans thanks to Gustav which is to become a Category 3 hurricane probably in a few days and likely come close or right on top of our city. This hurricane evacuation stuff is for the birds, but I am ok about it really except for the road rage I got as I neared the totally full drugstore lot to try to get my RX I need before I go. I will try again tomorrow and maybe camp outside til they open..........LOL not really.

HEY K.K.! Just got back home to OKC - had to evac my daughter from Tulane - and saw your big winner! I didn't know you had returned to the Big Easy, but am so happy you did. I was enjoying some vacation time and the spectacle that is Southern Decadence when Gustav spoiled the party (I do not participate in S.D., of course, I don't play for that team:) But Gustav was a surprise none the less. My kid will return to Tulane on Sept. 8th if all goes as planned.

I love this shot - my husband and I had just trekked past that very spot last week! So happy you've garnered yet another well deserved honor. My best to you!!!

Yes, Terrill, I had planned to drop in on Southern Decadence, but I had to evacuate before that. Talk about a parade worth photographing, but not showing on bp --LOLOL, being rained on! I think missing that photo op upset me the most. Next time you come to New O, and I know you will as your "kid" is in Tulane, give me a heads up. I would love to meet/shoot with you if you have time.
