What an interesting result! It almost looks like the hand is being held up to stop a wave in the ocean. The jewelry adds really nice depth to the hand. I like!

Hi Jayme,
I love solarization (also called the Sabattier effect). However it only works for certain images, you need a very graphic image with strong contrast in the middle tones. After you expose the paper under the enlarger you put in the developer for about half the normal time. The next step is a re-exposure to light. Put the print back into the developer for about the time you normally would. Basically this puts most of the image into a light gray tone or a black tone with a very strong edge effect. The effect has been known long time. You can do something similar with digital by using a v shaped curve. I did a blog on this information that is in my blog archive somewhere.
Thanks, John Siskin

A V-curve, I'm going to have to try this :) It's really, really neat!
