This is a GREAT image! Did the kitty go in the bowl all on its own or did you have to coax him/her in?

Toni--Kitty was there already. Doesn't she look like I just greatly disturbed her...

Lol, my cat has recently developed a "dont you dare use that flash while I'm sleeping" look. Maybe I have taken to many pictures of him?

Yep, Toni-those are the symptoms. Luckily, this little girl hadn't had her picture taken many times and she was more put out with me than afraid. I had a photo teacher--actually for this black and white class--that did not like us taking pictures of animals because she thought them too cutesy. In my opinion, she was way off base. Have a great evening. Margy

Your teacher was wayyyy off base. This is adorable, but fantastic capture in B&W.
Thanks for commenting on my barn this morning. I just went thru your gallery and it's lovely. I especially love your B&W. Keep up the great work and have a great day!

Yep, the teacher was wrong, animals make terrific subjects. This little one proves it. Good work=^..^=

I love the crop and composition Margy ~ B&W works so well here ... and for someone who loves to take animal shots I have to chime in and disagree with your teacher ~ perhaps she was thinking of pet 'portraits' where they are put into fancy dress?

Thank you all for your comments. No, the teacher would not let us shoot any animals. Strange, but true. Being an animal lover, I could not always follow the rules.

You have all helped me so much with your comments and suggestions. As with so many of our shots, this was just a brief moment in time that coul never be duplicated. I had to capture it. Thanks again for the cudos and critiques.

Thank you Lorri. Just lucky with this one...the kitty only looked at me and didn't move when I approached her.

You have some really incredible grayscale work in your gallery Margy! I applaud your current stand to remain unique as grayscale only. Ansel Adams would be thrilled. Great work on this one!

Steven and Doug--Your comments were so very kind. B&W touches me-think I should have been born before color film so there would not be an option and I could have really studied the art. Stephen, I don't think Mr. Adams would be too worried about me as competition, but I do appreciate your cudos. Having his name and mine mentioned in the same sentence is really an honor for me. Thanks again to you both.

Margy - I'm so happy to have found your beautiful gallery. You have black and whites down to an art, they are all fantastic. I love kitties and this image speaks to me, plus the old chair is an added bonus. Noticed this was taken in Dickens. Do you live in this area?

This is wonderful, Margy! The subject, the composition, the lighting, and of course, the b&w! The more I learn about photography the more appreciation and admiration I have for b&w and film--the skill, technique and talent it requires to produce beautiful photographs. Your gallery is a joy and inspiration!
