I am glad to see that many of you agree that they have an "alien" look! It was much more difficult to get to them this time because the lake was up a bit and the weeds had grown a lot! We were on the look out for snakes as we carefully made our way to the lake's edge. I think I need to invest in some rubber boots! Colleen, yes, this is the same as the dried brown pods you see in floral arrangements. I took several photos of them at that stage too. LOL@ Les' sea monster comment! Melodie, I agree that sometimes the pods are more beautiful than the flower and more interesting too!

LOL Susan! We always ride the ET ride when we go to Universal. It has the best smell, like a damp forest smell; it even smells old IMO. Justin and I always say we are going to get off the ride and stay in there a few days and play in the water and waterfalls. Thank you so much for your kind comment! The title saids it all. And it certainly reminded me of ET. Are we getting that old our kids don't know ET? Detail and color just superb in this photo. Love the background being softened out a bit and the adding the water was just brilliant. The eyes just give us a whimsical look at what an alien just might really look like. Loved your description under the title. Made me laugh and what scares me is, I know what your talking about. Great job my friend.

I am happy I returned to the lake, even though it was a bit difficult this time. I had to talk to people who lived on the lake to ask if I could get to it from their property because where we entered last time was really overgrown. Tammy, I thank you for your kind words! This is a lotus, although I am still a little confused on how it gets to this stage after the flower dies. And thank you for the b'day wishes; I shot this on my b'day and later had a great time with my family!
