First I shoot the entire landscape in
late afternoon with a D30 digital camera.
Then I take the astro-photo with
a film camera,Nikon FM, ten to fifteen minute exposures at f.2.8, tracking "piggy back" on a polar
aligned scope. I replace the blurred,
blackened part of the landscape in
the film version with the earlier
digital afternoon photo. You're
seeing the same landscape, but
by both night and day.
