Hi guys. I appreciate your thoughtful comments and time. I find shooting cut flowers a little boring in that there's not much effort or work required from the photographer...they're already beautiful lol, so I like to mix it up with interesting lighting, or freeze them (see my Stasis series) and create some drama or action and see what happens. This image took me a while and a lot of experimenting with aperture and whitebalance (the downlights created quite an odd colour temperature) I eventually utilised the D70's onboard flash to help balance this out. I wanted highly saturated colour and light, so I chose larger aperture for long exposure. I've since built a light tent to control my lighting.
