ROBIN SMITH     How do you add colored areas to a black and white photo? As you can tell, I`m fresh in the digital world.

Well, Robin, welcome to the digital world! You're going to love it! There are many different ways to get this look (as there are for everything you can do in Photoshop!). For this image, I made two layers, so I had the color version of the image on the bottom and a black-and-white version on top. Then I just used my eraser to bring the color back from the bottom layer on the tiger only. Have you taken any courses here at BetterPhoto? There are some fabulous online classes for Elements and Photoshop!

Hi Vik,
No, I haven`t taken any classes yet. I`m certainly planning on it. Would you reccomend me purchasing the Elements software? I'm planning on doing some photography for extra money since I enjoy it so much. Thanks for your help.

yes, elements is a great choice to get your feet wet, and at $99 or so, it's a BIG program for the buck! Robin Nichols teaches a couple of Elements courses here at bp - you should check them out! cheers!
