Colors and levels had been adjusted. Bottom floor people cloned out. This photo was critiqued by BP member Dale Hardin who pointed out a few other problems with the photo.

In the original photo, I had color corrected and cloned out people on the floor below. After posting this photo, I received a critique from another BP member:

Comment from Dale Hardin about Original “On Watch”:

Like the way the rail carrys you into the image. The colors are pleasing also and the overall composition is good.
Would have been even better, I believe, if the the angle (or the man) had been moved slightly so that he is framed in the doorway and if the crop on the left eliminated the dark band to the left of the pillar and the top was raised to show the top of the left doorway.
Overall a very pleasing photo. Well done. Dale

Reply from S. Rosin:

Thanks for your comments, Dale! I like getting the constructive criticism and do see those things you have pointed out. I will try to see if I can make the corrections you've suggested. I could possibly clone the door so that the man's head is being framed. And do a transformation to straighten out the lines on the left so I can crop them out. If you have any other suggestions, I would certainly appreciate them. Thanks again, Dale!

Using Dale's critique, I applied the clone stamp to the door behind the individual and a skewed distort to the lower left part of the photo, which eliminated the line on the top left of the photo.

Hi Susan,
Viewing the altered image before I knew it had been altered, I was quite impressed. I like the way the rail leads in, and I wondered if the man was some sort of prison guard !Colours are good too.
Viewing the original did take it out of the prison, but the colours were colder. You did a good job!

Susan,
I really like the perspective. It's nice to see the before and after. I'm taking a basic Photoshop class right now but haven't got any idea how to use it. Most of my pictures come out very light and fuzzy when I upload them to BP, but are very dark when I have them printed. Hopefully, one of these days this will change.

Rusty--thank you for your comments. Good luck with the PS class. I'm sure you'll find PS to be a wonderful tool to use. There are many free plug-in filters that you can find for it as well. Just type in "Free Plug-ins for PS" on a search engine and it will bring up all kinds of sites. My favorites to use are RPM Beautifier and Kyoto Color.

I'm sorry to hear about your photo quality problems when uploading. Here is a link to a discussion about sharpness issues here at BP:
