Giraffe Branches Abstract treatment of branches with snow on them, using PaintShop Pro. I created a layer of the original image, applied the hot wax coating effect, and merged it with the original image.

Thanks, Brinn! We've had a couple of bad blizzards in the past 2 weeks, and it's snowing again right now. I'd much rather be out at the lake shooting flowers, birds, or sunsets - but "when God gives you lemons, you make lemonade." ;-) Thanks again for your comment.

Very nice, Cary! I like to see what can be done in PSP as I don't use many of the filters - this is great and well done (incidentally in upstate NY, we are below our normal snowfall by 100 inches - 60+ degrees tomorrow and some of us are just loving it)!!

Thanks for your nice comment, Janet! I am still experimenting with a lot of the PSP artistic effects, and with using various layer property techniques....because its so fun being creative with them. Here in the Denver area I think we've gotten more snow in these past 2 1/2 weeks than we did all last winter! Usually Denver has an average of 300 days of sunshine a year!

Thank you, Jessica! I don't ski or board, so I'm trying to make all the snow that's piling up around here a little more "appealing"--at least to me. ;-)

A unique and striking abstract, Cary! I am always fascinated with the fact that so many of us share the same software but come up with such extremely varied results! That's what makes Photoshop such a wonderful tool, creatively! As for the snow... hmm. I just got a Weather Alert that says we are in for - normal weather?? There's a new one! I guess in Illinois, in January, that means "Bad!" LOL

Thank you Nadya! I use an older version (8.1) of JASC's Paint Shop Pro, which I purchased about a year ago for around $20. I call it the "poor-man's PhotoShop"....based on the prices I've seen advertised. I can get a lot of the same type of PhotoShop effects, but I have to do a lot of extra steps. I still haven't figured out how to achieve a good "buzz" effect with PSP, though. Thanks again, and bundle up! :-)

Awesome job Cary! I'm a big PSP lover. I've been using it for a couple of years and there is a lot to accomplish with that program. This is a great shot and great effect!

Thanks for your nice comment Donna, I appreciate it! Sometimes experimentation works-out surprisingly well.Thank you, Vanessa! Many years ago I downloaded a shareware version of PSP--mainly for making web graphics--and I got "hooked" on experimenting with it's different tools and effects. Then, about a year ago, I purchased a copy of PSP 8.1...and am still experimenting. Thanks again!
