Thanks, Mike! I used a Nikon D1 for the shooting, then I blended them together using Photoshop 7. It took me several attempts to get the shots I wanted and several hours putting it together in Photoshop. I had an idea people would like this one. Now off to the craft fair. Thanks again, your words are encouraging. There will be more!

Thanks, all! Funny story, as soon as I finished completing the image, I came back about a week later and the tree tops were cut down revealing more of the sound. Murphy's luck! So I'm off to try it again, this time without the tree tops in the way. The encouraging words from BetterPhoto people has always inspired me to do more. Thanks again, Dan.

I love this shot and it's hard to get good night shots. what do you mean on the number of shots? did you layer them or you mean you had movement in the pictures? How far away were you? It really came out nice. Congrats. Patty

Patty, thanks for writing, I'm glad you like the image. I took the images from a park that overlooks Seattle, the distance is close to what you see. I used a digital camera, and stiched vertical images together that captured the entire scene during the day, then went back at night and put my camera in the exact same spot and repeated the process. (Each pan was about 10 images) Then I layered the two pans on top of each other, blending them together using the gradient tool in Photoshop. This is about as simple as I can explain it. That's an interesting technique. I have been trying to get better night pictures and digital is different than film. I got a fugifinepix 6900 zoom but I used to use the nikon coolpix at a previous job. The coolpix was not a good flash camera but otherwise did good shots. Thanks for sharing your technique. It's a beautiful shot. Did you print it out for your wall? Patty

You're right about digital night shots being tough, sometimes there is some noise picked up on longer exposures. Don't have much advise here, but I assume technology will figure it out soon. It is best to scan slides/transparencies for the greatest results, but I do not have the time or money to do that. I enjoy creating and exploring, digital allows me to do this without spending much money, but detail quality is compromised a bit. I do have this print on my wall, I also sold a copy at an artwalk. I have recently reshot this image and is posted on my website under "Panoramics". In the new version, I caught the city directly under a full moon, added Mt. Ranier, and a ferry (all of which were given some exaggerated size to be more noticable). I feel the colors in the new version are better as well. I did this in hopes to capture the perfect Seattle image revealing as much as I could.

Hey Daniel... I am from the east coast but I had the privilege of traveling to the west coast this weekend. I went to an area in a neighborhood on some hill (Queenand I think?) and had a great view of the city, especially of the Space Needle. Highland Street I think it was? Was that where you took this? Because when I was there, this image actually popped in my head. I just posted a panoramic I took from Gas Works park, but it's not as interesting as yours :-) Good job, love the image.
