Nice shot!I have some closeups of my 2 month old grandson that I'd love to try this effect with. Could you share how you got the effect?

Hi Joyce, I am very basic on PS and don't know how to use it at all as yet, but look forward to learning new tricks!!! All I did here was take a photo that was really quite flat and boring (I have uploaded the original here for you), cropped really close, removed the colour and played around with fill flash, contrast and lighting until I was happy with the end result. This photo also looks really interesting having the head on an angle, rather than straight. I personally just preferred it this way. Hubby like it so much he now has it framed and hanging up with just a minute black boarder around it. Hope this helps. Cheers from Western Australia.

Hi Damian, thank you. It took a bit of work, but was worth it. Sometimes the original shots are disappointing, but in this case I really liked his expression - it's so typical. Gorgeous boy and a very deep soul!

Nicole

Can you tell me how you remove the color from a photo, is that just turning it blk and white??? Also I can not find a fill flash, where might that be ??? I love the look of this photo and wanted to try it too...

Thanks :)

Hi Lisa.
To remove the colour in PS you go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.
In PS Elements try Enhance > Colour > Remove Colour
Fill Flash is only available in PS Elements under Enhance > Adjust Lighting > Fill Flash, but you should be able to get a very similar result within PS by adjusting within Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast
I hope this helps.
