Hi, Chaba, Brinn and Karen - Thanks for the kind remarks. This was my first trial of my new Canon Image Stabilizer 100-400 lens and I am pleased with the results. I did practice a little bit at home because it is more complicated than my old lens and I am still a novice. I did not require a tripod with this lens, but it WAS heavy to hold for any length of time. There is another series of horse shows coming and I will be there! Thanks again - Ellie Kaul
