"North Hampton NH State Beach, I got up at 5 am to drive to the beach by 5:30 to take this picture. Well worth getting up for, although my husband thought I was crazy. He's not a morning person.

This is a great image, Kathy! Wonderful composition and exposure. The seagull is the crowning joy of it! However, I tend to agree with your husband: I am more a sunset picture type myself! LOL!

Thanks Marty for your comments. I sent an 8x10 photo of this with a black mat with a little white inner double mat to my Aunt in TX for a Xmas present. She loved it. I just recently found a double mat that is black outside and the inner mat is gold. I think that will really be stunning. The gold inner will pick up the coloring in the sky. Thanks again, being new I love to hear from fellow photographers.

Hi Kathy. I wanted to find the photo of yours that you were referring to. This is a beautiful image. Nice job capturing this fellow in front of the sun. That takes so much patience, timing and a bit of luck, too. Nice job. Sheila

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Sheila, the seagull was pure luck. I didn't even see it there until I got home and loaded it into the computer. It was a real surprise.

Thanks Simon for your compliment. Believe it or not, this is the first time I've taken sunrise pictures. I took a series from when it was still dark til it came well above the horizon. I was pleased with the results as being my first time. Kathy in NH

Kathy, as was already brought out, this picture is beautiful. I can't believe you didn't know the seagull was there. It was perfect timing. Great picture. -Janelle

Saving this one for last to comment on---outstanding! When I saw that seagull, positioned as it was above the sun, it caught my breath! Great gallery---it's been a joy!

Thanks Songbird for your comment, when I entered this shot in the camera club competition the judge thought I photoshopped the seagull in. The funny part is I never saw the seagull when I shot the photo, it wasn't until I returned home and loaded it onto the computer that I realized I had captured it. I was thrilled.
