How did you get the photo to come out like this? (settings, flash?)

Dear Paula;
This photo was taken without flash because it was an actual play reading, and I was not allowed to use flash for actors' concentrations - and audiences as well.
My camera was at a manual setting, and if I can remember correctly the ISO was set at 200. I didn't have any tripod or monopod. I simply took many shots and concentrated at what I wanted. I cannot remember the aperture and speed.
What I learned that day was to take as many shots as I can until I captured the one I was looking for.
