Joe this was the scout carnival. Just a small affair. There were themes for each float. My grandson Alec's float was Harry Potter. But could not get a decent shot as they had a big rope right across where his face was. These were older guys and I think they were representing Oliver but not too sure about that. They have buckets to throw money in to raise funds for the scouts and cubs.

...the top 4 percent of nearly 24,000 images make finalist...so this is a win, no matter where it goes Kate...missed this before, because I have little time to look at others images these days...but its great, the mood, the composition, the lighting...looks like something out of national geographic...well done!

Congratulations! I meant to say before that this photo really reminds me of a character in Charles Kingsley's "The Water Babies" - the main character was a little orphaned boy who worked as a chimney sweep - if I was casting for a movie based on that book, this boy would be perfect!
