Photographed 6/05, at Spruce Tree House in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado using a Nikon D100, Nikkor 28-200 lens, settings unknown. Image processed with Photoshop CS using levels, unsharp mask filter, and saturation controls. While touring Spruce Tree House which is cordoned off with ropes, a kindly Park Ranger seeing my photo rig guided me over the ropes into the ruin to get this shot. It pays to go early!

I love this shot! Sometimes it pays to stop and chat with the park rangers. I was at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve this spring and after visiting with the rangers for a while we decided to drive about a mile away to an old schoolhouse. While we were there the ranger came to check on the building and let me inside to take photos. Moral to the story...be nice to the rangers :)

Amen to that Sharon. It also pays to go early, stay late and visit off season when the rangers have more time to spend with you individually.

Oh my gosh Stephen. Your gallery is absolutely stunning and only time keeps me from commenting on each and every image. Your love of the SW shows in your pix, the colors, textures and POV. I too love the SW and have visited, many years ago, some of the same areas. Your photos bring back many pleasant memories. Looking forward to seeing many more. By the way, this one is awesome of the gorgeous ruins.....
