A Bighorn Sky Of Dreams

BetterPhoto.com Photo Contest Finalist   A Bighorn Sky Of Dreams
A Bighorn Sky Of Dreams
Sony DSC F707. Taking a Photo Shop class at my community college for my final credits to get my AA and this was my first homework that I did using tools I learned with two different photos I took combined to make one photo.

Fantastic Lisa, Your PS course is obviously working a treat!! I have only really scratched the surface of this excellent software and I too, am thinking of enrolling in a course to further my knowledge. If this is what can be achieved I'm even more keen than ever to learn more! Of course you have to have excellent images to work with but this isn't a problem to someone of your stature, as you have proved many times in the past.

Thanks Mark. Also helps that I take tens of thousand of photos a year to be able to pick some to use. :-)

I like the comp and good work on the clipping path. I don't like how you can tell that it is a PhotoShop creatation by looking at it. The background verses the Bighorn /rocks, looks very un-natual. Tone down the Bighorn /rocks and take out the shawdows created by the sun, and I think this would be very good.

Thanks Carolyn, Lem, Mett and Jason. Jason-I wanted this to be thought of as Digital Art as more like surreal than life like. Kind of like I did a painting once of our Flatirons in snow with a sky of Northern Lights for a painting class.

Don't get me wrong Lisa, I think it is good ( I really like the photo, the photo is great), and I feel the look you are going for is surreal, but I see half surreal and half life like. And that is fine too. I was just suggesting something that in may eyes would make this great. Just constructive comments, I don't mean anything bad by it.

Congratulations on finals, Lisa! You did an excellent job with this - awesome! Was the original background blue sky? The Big Horn looks so majestic, and with the position of its feet on the rocks, and the fiery (sunset) background, it relays a message of strength and stability!

Cathy :)

Thanks Damian and Cathy. Jason-I was just saying that's the look I wanted. I contrasted the sky a bit more to make it look less real and of course like you said unless I used a flash on him you can't get him that light at sunset. I think our next big project will be to make it unreal, but real looking like a picture of me with the President Bush. Cathy-Yes, the original bighorn shot was a very blue sky that I entered here a previous month. Here's a link to it's entry here: http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGallDetail.php?photoID=75248&memberID=16115&memberGall=1
