I guess, had to do something liked the shot, not really the light due to those clouds, so this, I think jazzed it up a touch. Besides, I felt like I was standing in the 1800's.

If you don't get it this month, leave the image raw.. Change to Sepia and place in People.. It would do well there I think too... Good luck with it.. Very cool!!!

Very nice shot, Christy. It grabs me and looks realistic. The poses are excellent - they look authentic/every day, as opposed to so much of the over-the-top look you frequently see in period work. Also, both the sepia toning and the work on the edges make it look more authentic, not to mention that you took what was probably a "blah" sky and utilized it to your advantage.

You are correct the sky was gray, and only gray. So the original is a touch boring because of that, but with out any, not good at all. Thank you for your comments on this shot. As you can imagine, not knowing they were even there ( found out later what was going on) then seeing this, sent you back to the time with a very strange feeling.

To be honest, I really love the compositon of this image. And I really like your rendering in sepia. It is great work. I too would recommend resubmitting it in another category. However, on my monitor it seems to have a pinkish hue that keeps it from looking old to me. I'm wondering if you could keep the more brownish tones with out the pinkish look. (Maybe its my monitor.) Also the pack on the pack mule looks blown out. See if you can keep in that detail and this should fly. Great work. Alton Vance

Thank you Alton. It doesn't appear to have a pink hugh on my monitor, but I can certainly see your point on the pack. I have a new software package that has curves, only PS elements 2.0 when I did this one. I am going to play with it a bit more and see if I can get that pack to calm down as well as perhaps work on the hugh so that you don't see pink. You never know, maybe my monitor. Thank you again for your suggestions, I appriciate them more than you know.
