This reminds me of a yellow-bellied sapsucker markings. I have taken a few photos of this same subject but they haven't turned out as good as yours. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Laura! Thanks for the compliment :-). This tree is quite large around so I was able to take a shot of it without having to crop it. Try a semi-maco shot and shoot at a slight angle. I know straight on doesn't give you the perspective you want and the detail you'd like to see. Have a great weekend!
