Happy Holidays, everyone!! This image is something I have been trying to shoot for months. These spiders show up all over the place here but are difficult to shoot because they are always facing you and their backs within a space between the web and wall, railing, whatever, is a mere few inches apart. This one was about 7 feet up and six inches or so from the garage wall, and thankfully the center pole of the tripod can be mounted horizontally to shoot straight up and the web is a rather large one. I don't think the spider is fully matured, and there is another that is just a baby, maybe 1/4 inch in diameter about three feet off the garage floor!

Hi, Marcie! I don't know about brave, but my neighbor, a policewoman, was watching me 'shoot' this, so I had 'protection', so to speak (LOL!)!! Thank you for your kind response!

Wow, Stan! I've been out of town and just came across this photo. It is so awesome. I love the way the web leads into the spider and the blue you used as the background. This little guy looks pretty tough and scary. I'm glad you guys didn't get into it. Aloha Stan, Just hopped over to your gallery. Wow! Love the grouping of plummies -- each shot is fabulous and together -- heaven.
Burning bush is wonderful and hard to capture.
But I had to comment here. I love these Gsrden Spiders because they stay put! No jumping! This is the girl. The males are about one tenth the size. Great shot!
