Just awesome! I love how the the light shows through on the right and the shadow of the clouds are present on the landscape. I also really like that palm style tree in the foreground and the depth that the photograph gets from the forground tree life. Also you captured some wonderful colors. Paradise for sure! Thanks bunches, Phil, bill, Dan and Terry. My only concern is the fronds in the foreground but there was no way I could move them, and I certainly wasn't going to try to clone them out. It was comical as it was to see the visitors when they heard the D60 fire in rapid succession. It was packed nearly shoulder to shoulded and cars waiting in line to get to the lookout and I didn't want to bring out the tripod :-).

Love this place and this shot. Great work with PS. You have to jump over the rail to get away from all the tourist and then you end up blocking their view.... Whats a photographer to do..???

Stan, I love, love, LOVE this! I know right where this is! Kauai is one of my husband and I's favorite places on earth. When we visit, we stay at the Princeville Resort on the north side of the island, right by this spot. We're some of those "mainland visitors" you were talking about. This is just gorgeous! Well done! Cristi: I was just by that lookout point a few days ago and unfortunately there are trees that have grown substantially since this image was taken and I was not able to shoot it again. I also noticed that a number of the taro patches were not planted and there was just dirt in their place. So, it probably was not meant to be photographed, at least for the time being!

Hi Stan, I've visited Kauai in 1998, 2001 & 2002 and fell in love with the island and the local Hawaiians (and Hawaiians at heart) I met while there. When you show them, and the aina, the respect they both deserve they treat you like one of the family. I, like probably thousands of other visitors, took shots of the taro fields from this vantage point but you gave so much more justice to it than I could have. I hope I am able to return to Kaui again someday. I'd like to learn more about adding photos toghether like you did here and how to take just plain better photos. (hopefully joining BeterPhoto.com will aid me in that).

P.S. I have grown large plants called "Elephant Ears" during the summer here in Iowa. I didn't realize until later that they are actually taro plants like on Hawaii. Had a little of Hawaii right here and didn't even realize it :)
