Kevin, I love this image and the effect you used! It looks like this town is wrapped in plastic to keep it pretty and fresh!

Joannie, Bonnie, Thanks. This is a small mediaeval town in the heart of Bavaria close to the village where I live. Modern photos look too cl,inical and/or tourist guide like. I think SX-70 manipulation method suits the subject well and for me captures the age of the town, despite the rather modern cars and bicycles. Kevin

Everyone, thanks I'm overwhelmed. Donna P. It's not difficult getting started, in fact it's great fun. Getting the effects you want takes a little time and perseverance. Try experimenting with different sized styli, stroke patterns, and film temperature. There's a reasonable amount of info on the web, a good starting point would be http://www.kathleencarr.com/ who is, I believe, an instructor at here. She's also written a book or 2, available through amazon (recommended). Cameras are cheap on ebay, film's still available, but a little expensive. Good luck and I'm sure we'd all love to see your manipulations here. If you want to know more, contact me offline at kevinelliott at hotmail dot com Kev

Well,Kevin I must add my compliments to the long list of kudos for this image. A very nice effect. Are you taking Kathleen Carr's class or did you? For Donna P, the technique uses an older style polaroid camera, the instant type that spits out the front, and then as Kevin mentions, you manipulate the image while it's developing but before it hardens. It's great fun!! Good work, Kevin!

Thanks everyone again. Nice to think that many people love one of my personal favourites. Brenda, I haven't taken any courses, but I do have 2 of Kathleen Carr's books, they've been a great help. Highly recommended, but as she points out one needs to experiment, learn from failures and improve. Kev
