Four Tigers on Ironweed

  Four Tigers on Ironweed
Four Tigers on Ironweed
(or five)
----
The meadow at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve in Washington Crossing, PA was in glorious bloom on July 27, with acres of swamp mallows and New York Ironweed attracting hundreds and hundreds of swallowtails (and other less showy creatures). The overcast sky made an interesting backdrop for shooting. Some flower clusters were visited by five or more butterflies simultaneously; butterflies were so dense that I was touched over and over again as I was standing in their flight paths, apparently.

Beautiful capture Michelle, glad to hear that there were lots of butterflies, seems to be a shortage up here this summer.

The hazy sky provided a great background to highlight the bush and butterflies
Excellent, Michelle

I have been blessed to see beautiful events like this and it is one amazing and gorgeous show as they flutter about and come in groups. The colors, the markings, the whole scene is so pretty. Glad you got to see it and get some wonderful pictures at the same time my friend.
Have a wonderful day.
