Hi everyone! I was away in Jordan and Egypt for the last little while, but I'm looking forward to catching up on everyone's photos in the next few days.

You sure do get around Lisa. Love the composition of this shot. Nice balance of tones also.

There is a bit of a glare and I'd expect to see a spike on the right side of your histogram. Lowering the highlights down a bit (preferably in raw editor) and then tweaking the levels to add a bit more drama to the sky would help take this already wonderful image, over the top.

This is a really different shot. It almost looks like it could be a moonscape. Very interesting and unusual and yes you do get around a lot. I look forward to seeing Dale's suggestions. Great shot!

How the heck do you get to all these places??? Very cool picture-I agree with Dale-the only thing I see is the rock in front is a little (just a little) blown out. Lots to look at-nice job!

Thanks everyone! Here's the edit-the colour cast looks different to me but I only adjusted the leves and contrast. (It's much cheaper to fly from China to the countries I've gone to than it is from Canada. And I don't own very many things...no car, no house...I didn't know anything about Jordan before I left, but it's a beautiful country.)

Cool shot Lisa...thanks for letting us live vicariously through your travels..

I think the edits made the image look too dark and contrasty and prefer the original..

Lisa, the results you need won't be done with levels and contrast settings. What software are you using for post processing? Tony, is right that the image is now too dark, but the highlights are still untouched and they are the main issue.

Yes you do get to travel a bunch. Thank you so much for sharing all these cool places with us. Is the travel part of your job or just for plain fun?

Along with the others I love your composition. Gives the main rock a monolithic feel esp with the smaller ones off in the distance. Between the two edits I like the original one best. With Photoshop a sky replacement would be easy but last time I was here I don't recall you having photoshop.

Aimee, I'm so glad you're back! I really missed your photos and input while you were away.
I do have photoshop, and I was using camera raw. I think I got rid of the highlight spikes, but also, I'm pretty sure I still have jetlag, so I could be wrong.
(Beth, I travel for fun, my job is in a kindergarten.)

Yes, here I am, trying to play "catch-up". I liked the first one and now that I like the end, I have to change my mind and go with your last edit. Just a great shot. Yes, we are living vicariously through your images to the places you show us.

What an interesting rock formation Lisa. I have only spent a few days in the near east in Egypt, Israel and Turkey and never came across anything like this. Fascinating.
