This man has been a very close friend to Bill for more than two decades. Today he is leaving for New Zealand, where his daughter lives with her family. His current plans do not include coming back to America.

This was shot yesterday, as they "said goodbye" without really saying it.

Like Bill, this man is a unique and fascinating character. I hope he will find time to write his story.

He looks like a Sea Captain to me. Michelle. If not him, perhaps an ancestor of his? Interesting people seem to run in families.I admire your ability to diary events through the faces you capture. Their expressions say so much and your timing is impeccable. Sad that this new chapter of his life will not including looking back to America but I hope part of his heart will always remain. And the upside? Maybe a trip to New Zealand will be a welcomed vacation to his photographer friends one day. :) I hear it's very beautiful and tropical there. -Laura
