Nice one Bob Always amazes me that they hunt fish this small and will also take fish, rodents ,amphibians and chicks of any bird .
We have quite a large winter population of these fellows from western Suffolk county all the way East to Montauk Point .

Beautifully captured! His meager prey is amusing. The Little Green Heron I shot on the pond this past summer absolutely consumed all the fish, frogs, crayfish, and LORD knows what else.

  Thanks everyone!

Great Blues are fairly common around my neck of the woods...but I can never resist when one exhibits such an accommodating display of cooperativity.
This handsome heron was snagging minnows, bluegills, etc. from less than 30 feet away from where I was standing.
