Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle - Kona, Hawaii

Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles love to haul out on the Kona Coast. Basking is rare among marine turtles, and has been observed in only a few populations in the Pacific. It is thought that they do this for thermoregulation, resting, and perhaps for protection from tiger sharks.

BetterPhoto Member Since: 11/2/2007 		    Wonderful Catch we have turtles nesting along the Palm Beach Coast where the known nests are protected all summer. All have a rescue center right there just in case. They are a treat to see and so impressive in the water.
