It's only natural for a dog to pant on a hot summer day. Dogs have few sweat glands (only in their paws), and panting helps to keep them cool.

I didn't know dogs have sweat glands in their paws. I know my pup with her pushed in little face has more trouble than many breeds with heat. Pretty portrait of a panting pup, to overdo the alliteration. :)
