Aren't I Pretty

Aren't I Pretty?

Dear BP friends.
I couldn't decide whether to enter the cropped version or the whole image, so I've attached the other one
and would really appreciate your opinion on which one's the best.
I hope you're all enjoying the weekend.

I, too, like them both but if I have to vote I will pick the cropped version!

I am probably in the minority here Kiki, but I prefer the uncropped version! Never the less, they are two excellent images, your timing was spot on!

Kiki, they're both contest-worthy (and, YES, she's pretty, either way)! I lean a bit towards the closeup version, but I tend to crop tightly on most of my photos, so that explains it!
P.S. The "Christmas Plant" was actually a fern type of bush, taken at the Spring Garden Show in April!

Beautifully captured Kirsten. I probably prefer the cropped version but I would enter both.

Well Sis, when I am not sure, artistically, then I revert to the rules.

The reason you had trouble with this is because this image falls into two categories.

1) Wildlife and 2) Portrait.

This is why you are getting mixed answers by your professional friends.

My father was a professional photographer and he kept a strict rule that "A good photo has a foreground, a middle and a background. Photo two has this.

Yet a portrait, being different, can be cropped tight. It would have been a mistake had you cropped off the wings which you did not.

I have a worry (with people images) about cropping off arms, wrists, hands...and if it's a full shot, feet.

So in the end, because of your title, I choose the first one. It's all about him. Picture two is about him in his environment.

In the end what matters is what YOU want to show us. With this one we are all happy to see both.

I hope I have been of help. :) I have another suggestion that I will e-mail to you. :)

SSSLala :D
