Great work with your new SLR toy. It takes more work to present the shots especially if you are shooting raw, but the rewards are great. Wonderful dof which is so nice on this one.

This is excellent Patrick. I love the Canon bodies and lens. Read, re-read and read the manual again. I keep mine with me at all times for reference. I shoot in RAW + large JPEG. I try to dedicate one CF card for each event/shoot/pets/flowers/macro. When I load them onto my computer I also have both RAW and JPEG sent to external drive. After processing I will send the final to the external drive as well. Do not know what lens you have yet but that will be where most of the expense is once you have the great body.
I like the Canon 24-105 EF L IS 4 lens and the 70-200 EF L IS 2.8 lens to begin with. Sigma lens are also a good match but less expensive.
Get off Program and Automatic mode right away and stick to AV, TV and Manual for most shots. You will just love your new Canon 60D Paddy. Happy shooting. By the way the auto focus is very good most of the time except for macro and bird shots.

Paddy! WOW! How fun and exciting! I can tell you it takes time so be patient. Carry your pocket camera with you, too, to keep your self confidence going in the mean time because your older cameras knew what it was like to be an extension of your arm and of you.

Now you have a sophisticated amazing camera that awaits you. Take your time. Be kind to yourself. Like a good woman, just get to know her. A little at a time. It doesn't happen over night.

HA! The good news is you will get a good one like this, here and there, and that can keep you moving forward, so keep going!
