This Group of Coots is Quite a Hoot! 1/1000s @ f/13, ISO 1000, Nikkor 500mm f/4 @ 700mm. (Animals) Taken at the Celery Bog a few weeks ago. The waterborne American Coot is one good reminder that not everthing that floats is a duck, although they often mix with them. In fact they are closer relatives of the Sandhill Crane than of Mallards or teal (Cornell Lab of Ornithology). Saw one baby Coot, but unfortunately could not get a clear shot of him.

What a great shot, Rona! I'm not sure if we have these birds or not and I know I've never seen one around here. Love your title too!!
