G'day *Jake*! What a sad, sad, story. Even without the accompanying narrative, the viewer's own imagination can conjure up many a scenario for this excellent imagery. With the narrative you have strengthened the story and made it whole, leaving no doubt as to what is your intention. I feel though that were you to crop off a strip across the bottom, bringing the edge up to a bit below the bottle, you would add much more impact to the image and draw the viewer's eye further in. As our left side and the top have already been cropped tightly by your framing, my suggestion would also go along with that. (Justathort!) Selective colouring is usually used to draw attention to the coloured element in an image and is most times over used but in this image it does not become a distraction as the model's face remains the strongest focal point of the image. Good lighting on the model's face, exceptional exposure of the dress and very good contrast and tonal range add to this fine photograph's appeal. A great concept carried out very well indeed. Thank you Arthur and Dennis! Actually, this isn't a model, it's me lol. Im a girl named Jake. I wasn't sure I could pull off this picture, the mood, that I wanted to convey. My marriage is actually very strong, but I've been wanting to try on my old dress and do a moody self portrait. I like the outcome, only I've lost a lot of weight and the dress kept trying to fall off during the shoot lol. I agree that cropping could add impact but I wanted the skirt of the dress to lead the eye toward a tear streaked face. I actually had a vision in my head that I was surrounded by folds and folds of puffy dress, but sometimes things turn out different for the better :) Thank you so much for the kind comments, it means a lot coming from someone with such a wonderful portfolio and so many winners. Cheers! -Jake

It's cool for me to find someone else who finds inspiration for photos in lyrics! I love hearing the words to a favorite song and attempting to put an image, and a mood, to them. Beautiful image.

Thank you Sherri. It was hard for me to evoke a mood that I felt nothing close to. But I guess I pulled it off. Your comments make everything worth it :)
