FURUSATO FESTIVAL
FURUSATO FESTIVAL

Even though my trip to my hometown was short, I was lucky to be able to see this annual Furusato (hometown) Festival. In this scene, you can see the spectators watching a stage set in the station plaza.
Photographed at Ozaku Station Rotary in the city of Hamura.

Selected by National Geographic for "Daily Dozen" on October 17, 2011.

What an amazing photograph, Alex. Seems futuristic and almost surreal, and so much to look at. Even the wires across the sky are not a detriment somehow.

Thank you for your great comments always Michelle! I was worrying about the wires but I decided not to clone them out because they are part of the cityscape. I just hope people see them that way too :)

Thank you very much Jeff! I think colors add liveliness to this festival scene. Bright light was helpful.
