The tear

The tear
The tear
Image made from a quick snapshot at a civil war re-enactment. Isolated subject, severe cropping, multiple screen blends plus one reduced opacity softlight blend, used warp and cloning to change the shape of the face. Selective saturation and de-saturation, and numerous other small techniques to tweak.

Shutter speed: 1/500.00 F-stop: 9.0
ISO speed: 400

Very nicely done,Dale. Love the softness that it invokes and the star is definitely a nice touch. You must have been doing this while I was playing with Topaz Black and White.

  Thank you Debbie. LOL! You're quick. I hadn't even posted this on Phellos yet.

Since I'm leaving tomorrow for a month, wanted to post one last image before taking off.

  Wow you sure did a ton of lightening on this one from the original and also alot of cropping. I really like the dreamy feel you created. I'm wondering what a flip would look like, but then one might breeze thru the shot and not return. Would have to see to know. Hope you have a wonderful trip! :~)

  Beyond super, Dale! I am no great fan of high-key but you might have converted me brother! Didn't understand a word of all your fiddley stuff but 'wow and double wow! I could not have imagined this from your original image. I don't usually make suggestions for alterations but I would really like to see this with an actual but subtle drop of 'tear' rather than the 'hit you over the head- look she's crying ' starburst. This could be a young lady watching her man go off to any war and if I had to search for even the tiniest tear I would be able to relate this image to what millions of wives, mothers, daughters, girlfriends and yeh, even dads, sons and brothers will probably have gone through over the years of conflicts.
No flip for me; the ship, the plane, the train has left and she has taken one last look behind her as he goes off to war.

  Hi Dale;
This is lovely. The softness of the high key is very appealing. I'm with Peter about repositioning your tear drop and I'd love to see how that would look. Well done, see you soon and have fun.
;) CC

  Thanks for the input Peter. Have been very busy as you know but will get to your suggestion when I have some time, 'cause I'd like to see how it would look also.

Thanks Carla and Wm. This was a fun project.

  Well, you settled it. I must learn high key. This is the best I have seen and a perfect model for it. Congratulations on another great piece of DD work.
