Ringo - growing old gracefully

I learnt a lesson in street photography yesterday. I was in Oxford yesterday and this character was walking along the street. I tried to take a photograph covertly but he saw me. I was horrified when he came up to me. He simply said if I wanted a photograph he would pose. I then used this later with another 'character', I asked and got a yes. I have realised that 'characters' like their photos taken so ask - it works!

And what an interesting "character" indeed! This is one of those photos that you find yourself "studying" so to speak...well done, Dave!

David, this is incredible! Love the subject and you had him pose in a manner that allows us to see him at all angles. Guess the old saying, "Ask and you will receive" was rather acurate for this prize catch!

  Thanks Gail,
Yes a big lesson learnt. People who stand out appear to want to stand out - and being noticed and photographed is all part of this. There is a picture of another characher coming tomorrow. After this incident I asked and the next chap was simlarly delighted. Model forms all signed and in the bag and a copy photo on the way to them. That simple!

Thank you for the knid words Donna,
I think I'll stick to doing charity parachute jumps when I get to retirement - this just looks too painful!

Take care
Dave

In case you were wondering a knid word is like a kind word only kinder!

  David,
I always wonder how these chaps manage to blow their noses when needed...Nice story to go along with a great portrait. I have too been mortified after being caught trying to be inconspicuous. Sometimes it's best to be bold; however, this embarrasses my husband no end... :)

  Hi Piper,
Thanks for the response and nice feedback. I suppose going anywhere near a strong magnetic field could be quite painful as well.
I have become quite brazen now and almost always get a positive result. My problem is model releases. On a good day out I get through them at an alarming rate. My photography is fast becomming an administrators dream - not mine!

David
