Thank-you all for your kind comments on my photo.
I was very pleased to get this image.
It resulted from a case of being in the right place at the right time, a brief window of opportunity when this flock descended into a growth of Buckthorn at almost eye level and with good light. It lasted only about 10 minutes and then the clouds dulled the light and something spooked the birds into flying off.

Wow, Heather! This is sensational - you must have been so excited to see this. Fantastic capture - everything came together so perfectly - the light, the colors, the fruit - terrific detail and clarity. MANY CONGRATULATIONS on this superb FINALIST - I'm sure we'll see this again!
