A delightful profile portrait if this beautiful bird, Ann! While they possibly do, our Peahens don't seem to have as much color in them as this one!

Hey Ann, did the earth move over there for you this morning?

Boy, it sure did John. I have never experienced anything so scary in my whole life. Just trying to stand up and get to a door frame was a nightmare and being upstairs at 4.30 in the morning and in the dark. 7.1 on the richter scale, many older buildings in the central city are damaged and a lot of damage to people's property and the roads. Have got power back and not sure when water will be restored. Still having aftershocks. Mainly things fell over in our house and I think because our house is fairly new it stood up to the earthquake fairly well but other people are not so lucky.

I am so happy you and your family survived the ordeal Ann! The TV reports we got here are frightening! I know I would be petrified! My thought are with the wildlife also at this time, it must have been very traumatic for them too!

Thanks everyone. John, I too have been thinking about all the animals and especially the birds at the animal park where I regularly go to take photos. I will try to get out there during the week but I know that area may have suffered a bit of damage and certain areas may be cordoned off. I know my cat took off outside straight after the earthquake and we didn't see her again until late at night.

Ann, this is a really delightful portrait of a very pretty bird!! She may be different to her male counterpart, but in my eyes she surely is just as attractive!! :o)
