The Music Played...And We Danced

In the familyTenthredinidae, Sawfly Larvae often exhibit ritual "dance moves" while feeding upon the leaves of their preferred host tree.
Exactly why these tiny critters twist and wriggle about in apparent congruous harmony remains a mystery to me.

I would have thought you'd have dozens of comments on this terrific finalist, Bob. I wonder where everyone is hiding?

Your timing, composition, sharpness, clarity, details and tonality make this a winner in my eyes. It's a beautiful capture. Congratulations on your finalist.

Thanks everyone!

Many species of sawfly larvae mimic butterfly and moth caterpillars in shape and design. (..not sure why.)
Their habits and life cycles are quite different though and equally as fascinating.
