Southern Crimson Moth - Pyrausta Inornatalis

Southern Crimson Moth - Pyrausta Inornatalis
I found 2 of these Crimson Moth's feeding on the salvia in my garden. As far as I'm able to tell from the internet these moths have not been recorded in this part of Texas. They are only 3/8 inch long. I used a Nikon D300 at 1/250, f9, ISO 400, Nikkor 105 macro lens and a Nikon SB600 speedlight off camera.

What a very beautiful creature, Karen, and a lovely capture of it. This must have been thrilling to see. I have May night salvia in my yard so I know how very tiny this moth is -- wonderful detail in the head and on the antennae especially.

Thank you Marilyn. They hung around about 4 days but haven't seen them anymore. I almost missed them, they are so small but the pink color is what caught my eye.
