Hot Shoeing
I actually layered in a bit of extra smoke to fill in some rather bland edges! This is my daughter's horse Star. I would love to go around for the day with the farrier to try and get some better shots. Problems being untidy backgrounds, constant movement - you never know where to stand or crouch for the next best shot, and not being able to catch the farrier's face. Maybe if I had a day with him I might stand more of a chance!

This is a really wonderful photo! The subtle colors, the mood, the clear hands, and I love the lines created by their legs, the horse's neck and head, and the farrier's back.

I think you have made this into a very beautiful image Kate !! Print it out, frame and hang on a wall - Oh I must mention - we had a horse called Star, she was 21yrs old when we got her and died aged 30 yrs - Sarah, Anna and myself rode her.

I can smell the burning hoof, it brings back memories when I had a riding centre in the 90's. Apart from the nostalgia this is a fabulous atmospheric shot, and I don't think you need to see his face, that is what makes the shot intriguing.
