Manzamo
Manzamo
Manzamo is situated on the northwest Okinawa coast, not far from the picturesque beaches of Onna Village, a simple, idyllic location with a fantastic view and plenty of Okinawan history.

The name Manzamo stems from the original Okinawan Hogen dialect, meaning ‘big enough for 10,000 men to sit on this field by the cliffs.’ It’s true, as 10,000 people can sit there, as referred to in historical accounts of Okinawan songs and literature. Also referred to as The Elephant’s Nose at Manzamo, the Manzamo is a broad, flat piece of land sitting atop coral, covered with a plush layer of vivid green grasses. The craggy cliffs form the elephant’s nose. Standing on the edge, the view is breathtaking, with outlying islands of Ie, Minna and Sesoko visible, while to the north, the mountains of the Motobu peninsula are in view. To the south lies Cape Zampa.
