Reflection Distortion

THROUGH A GLASS WILDLY
Everytime we go to Denver we seem to pass by this particular building. I've always gotten boring grab shots. This morning we took a detour around the block and I got out and captured some very interesting reflections of the glass towers "playing" off each other. I like all the black zebra-like stripes in the glass. My husband, the physics major, told me that this happens because all glass is not flat like we think it is. If all the glass panels were flat, there would be no interesting distortion and everything would be perfectly symmetrical.

Debbie - this was well worth the side trip. This is a fantastic image. I love the colors and the patters of both the reflections and the glass panels.

What a great catch this is - very interesting! I love all the different designs and love the color tones of this one also. Very well done, Debbie, must have been the right time of day and the right lighting.

Yes, it was worth it even though I had to answer to a security guard over it. People can be very paranoid about having people with cameras hanging around. I just struck up a conversation with him and he was fine with it after I told him I was taking a class - just a bit of a stretch because I consider Phellos as a class of sorts...we learn a lot of stuff together, right? I did tell him that I wasn't really taking anything that could probably identify the building, just getting lines, and color and reflections.Here are a few others that I liked from the shoot.

very nice Debbie! I love the gold tones.We have a glass building downtown (PPG Place) and you actually are not allowed to photograph the building. It's kind of disappointing because it's known as the glass castle so I'm sure you can imagine the look. I'm glad the security guard didn't give you any grief. You have quite the series here

Wow! What an amazing series. Your original post, 2 Golden Towers and Denver Gold are my favorites. I'll have to remember the class idea if I ever get caught taking photo's somewhere. :)

Wow these are all wonderful. This is a great lesson in creativity. The different points of view and angels all work really well and as was said all of the fundamentals a very well done. I would be hard pressed to select a favorite - I like them all.

LOVE them all - Beautiful! 2 towers is my fav.
Taking photos of 1 subject in as many angles, POV's, lighting (dif. times of day) was 1 of the assignments when I was in the Masterpiece Membership club. A super assignment as it makes u look at things from every possible angle & u get shots u never knew would b possible -gosh that took so long pecking with just my left hand...arrrgggh!

I think you are doing a wonderful job of communicating with the typing on your left hand. I hadn't started out with this shoot being a study in angles but it did turn out that way, didn't it? Was fun, except when the security guard first approached me. Did you like Masterpiece?Thank you all - Michael, Teresa, Jodi, Dale, Jeff, Rita and Joan and Susan. Did I get you all? I was kind of reluctant to show you "Two Golden Towers" because I thought it might be over the top. It was an easy "sky replacement". though. Hopefully, I "matched" the kind of light that that kind of sky would have placed on the towers. Glad you liked it.

Hey guys....what are your thoughts about what category should Two Golden Towers go in? I'm thinking Catch-All, but this could be an Urban Landscape or Digital Darkroom since it is a sky replacement. Tough one to place. Thanks.

Not sure on this one Debbie. My thought is that it is too close to be an urban landscape so I would say EOD or Catch All.
