Good morning Mary, Kristen and Nicole. Thank you for your comments on "Upstairs" FYI... the lighting upstairs is from a ceiling fan/light fixture behind the boy. The incandescent bulbs in this fixture provide a warmer light than the downstairs light which is cooler (bluer) and comes from a compact fluorescent bulb. This accounts for the different tones above and below the railing. I used PS to clone out a couple distracting fan blades and then darkened the image to get the silhouette effect. That's about it. My dad used to tell me to always put a person in a picture. Adding a boy to this image turns it from a very good, but undistinctive graphic with interesting lines and light(hues and patterns), into an image that intrigues the viewer to ask who, where, and why? The silhouette makes all the difference.
